Student Teaching Information
Fall 2010 and Spring 2011
For Curriculum & Instruction Majors
Three distinct Student Teaching types are available to you as an Elementary-Bilingual, Early Childhood,
Elementary, or Middle Level major.
- Traditional 16-Week (one semester) Student Teaching in an Illinois school. This option is available to all Elementary Bilingual (ElEdBl), Early Childhood (ECE), Elementary Education (ElEd), and Middle Level (ML) teacher education majors who plan to student teach during the Spring 2010 semester. Click here to apply for this option.
- Traditional 16-Week (one semester) Student Teaching at an Alternative Site. ISU has developed partnerships with school districts in San Antonio, Texas, and Brighton, England, UK (England option is not available for ML Majors). More information about each of these opportunities can also be found by contacting the Coordinator of Educational Partnerships, Jill Donnell at jdonnel@ilstu.edu.
- Professional Development School: The PDS program offers education students a year-long experience (one semester of methods coursework aligned with pre-student teaching clinical experience and one semester with 16 weeks of student teaching experience) in a public school in Illinois. If this is your choice, be sure contact your advisor, explore information on the PDS website at http://www.teachereducation.ilstu.edu/pds/, and follow any other instructions specific to PDS. Important: Check PDS deadlines, as they vary by program and may have already passed.
