(April 25, 2008) Kathy Clesson, faculty associate at University High School, is the 2008 winner of the TeachTech Award. Clesson's winning entry was an Arthurian Legend Web page/podcasting unit, developed for her English Literature class at U-High. Her inspiration for the unit came from her participation in the Illinois State University Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT)'s podcasting grant award program.
The TeachTech Award, created by the School at Columbia University, recognizes creative uses of technology that enhance teaching and learning in the K-12 classroom with the goal of encouraging new and innovative uses of technology that support pedagogical goals and strategies. Clesson will receive a $5,000 prize and an additional $2,500 to cover expenses for a four-day visit to Columbia University to learn more about instructional applications of technology at the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning.
