What is a news feed?

A news feed is a way to collect and monitor regular updates to Web-based content. It is a tool that automatically captures the information you want, when you want, from the Web.

A news feed enables the College of Education to post short summaries describing recently added or updated information on our Web site with links to full versions of that content. These postings are then scanned automatically by programs called feed readers to deliver specialized news-wire-style "feeds" to readers who have subscribed to the feed. By subscribing to the College of Education News feed, you can easily stay informed of all news happening within the College of Education.

How do I subscribe?

To subscribe to the College of Education News feed, you will need a feed reader (or "news aggregator"). A feed reader will allow you to subscribe and monitor many different feeds. By automatically retrieving updates, you may stay current with news stories soon after they are published.

Different feed readers are available; many for free. Some are applications that you download and install. The latest versions of popular Web browsers also support feeds directly. In these browsers you can simply click on the feed link to view or subscribe to it. Note: You will need a feed reader or current browser to subscribe to feeds. If you click on a feed link in an old browser, it may display unfriendly, unformatted code.

To find a feed reader, check your browser or e-mail client to see if a reader is included, or search the Internet to find one to download.
