1. WHICH BROWSERS DOES THE NATIONAL BOARD RESOURCE CENTER WEBSITE SUPPORT?

National Board Resource Center website supports only Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. You may be able to view some of NBRC features if you have an earlier version of one of Internet Explorer. However, we recommend 6.0 browser as they are faster at certain operations, more reliable, and support all of the features that National Board Resource Center uses.

2. WHAT CAN I DO TO INCREASE THE SPEED WITH WHICH I ACCESS YOUR SITE?

The following suggestions may help to enhance the performance of our website:
Check your modem to ensure it is at least 56 kbps, our minimum requirement.

Clear your disk and memory caches. Also, check your memory cache setting to ensure it's no greater than 25 percent of your computer's total RAM.

Close any applications you are not using to increase the amount of RAM available to your browser.

3. WHAT IS "CACHE" MEMORY? HOW DO I CLEAR THE CACHE ON MY BROWSER?

A "cache" (pronounced like "cash") temporarily stores on your computer the information from web pages you have visited. We suggest users "clear" their cache occasionally, especially if a page is stuck with outdated material or information has not been refreshed.

To clear the cache, you must use the 'Internet Options' menu which can be accessed by clicking once on the 'Tools' selection found across the top of the IE browser between the Help and Favorite options. Click once on the 'Internet Options' selection to display the menu. By using the tab menus at the top, select the tab titled 'General Options'. Click once on the 'Delete Files' button. You will be prompted with a pop-up box that asks if you wish to delete all temporary Internet files. Click 'OK'. You have successfully cleared your cache.

4. HOW DO I BOOKMARK MY FAVORITE PAGES?

Most Web browsers allow you to create bookmarks which allow you to return to a URL you have visited on the Web. Once you have added a bookmark, a preferred page is only a click away. Adding NBRC's home page to your bookmark page will make it easier for you to return to the site.

To bookmark a webpage simply go to the web page you'd like to add to your Favorites list. Once the page has loaded, go to the Favorites pull-down menu at the top of your screen, and select Add To Favorites. You will then see the Add To Favorites window. The title of the page you've selected will automatically appear in the text field at the bottom of the window. To add the page you've selected simply click Add.

To access the Favorite site, go back to Internet Explorer's Favorites pull-down menu at the top of your screen. You'll notice that a new selection has been added.

5. I BOOKMARKED TO A PAGE WITHIN YOUR SERVICE AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK. WHY?

The page you bookmarked may have moved. Our services are always growing and improving. That means that while we work very hard to maintain consistency in the basic structure, there are times when the address to a particular page must change. Also, some pages are seasonally driven and might change or be removed when the season ends.

7. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS CONNECTING TO ONE OF YOUR PAGES. WHEN I DO, MY SYSTEM LOCKS UP.

There are several possibilities:

A browser error may have occurred. If this is the case, close the browser, reopen it, and try again.

If other people can access the site, it may be a problem with your Web page cache. Clear your cache and then try reloading the site again. For instructions on how to clear your cache, see How do I clear the cache on my browser?

Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may have a problem with their servers. Try accessing other pages, and if the problem persists, contact your ISP.
