Greetings from the Chair
The Department of Educational Administration and Foundations at Illinois
State University prepares leaders for education organizations, including
P-12 schools, higher education, research laboratories, think tanks,
government agencies, and professional associations. Our graduates
hold many positions of prominence as principals, superintendents,
community college presidents, university presidents, and executive
directors of statewide organizations.
Illinois State University is the center of activity for educational
administration. The Illinois Principals Association, the Illinois
Association of School Administrators, and the Illinois Women
Administrators Association have their academic homes in the
Department of Educational Administration and Foundations at Illinois
State University. The Center for the Study of Education Policy,
located in the department, studies financial, legal, personnel and
policy issues. Publications include Illinois School Law Quarterly
(state journal), Planning and Changing (national journal), and
Grapevine (national database).
The Department includes 24 full-time tenure track faculty members
specializing in P-12 administration, higher education, research methodology,
and educational foundations. Students participate in degree and certification
courses on campus and at off-campus cohort locations – Chicago,
Joliet, Quad Cities, Peoria, Springfield, and Bangkok Thailand. Nearly
every course includes a technology component; students are expected
to use the Internet to communicate and conduct research.
The Department of Educational Administration and Foundations at
Illinois State University is dedicated to improving the quality
of P-12 and higher education through quality leadership. Explore
our website or contact one of us if you are interested in
joining the Department.
Sincerely,
Trisha Klass
