5-8 -- Alternative Geography Assessment Items The Plan For Prosperity As an economic geographer, you have been asked by the government of a small country to help it improve its economy. Over three-fourths of the country’s people are poor farmers, trying to grow enough food for their families on the few acres they own. There is a high degree of illiteracy and infant mortality. However, you have reason to believe that the country has large amounts of untapped mineral resources in its mountain regions. Write a memo below to the President of this country in which you describe a plan that identifies at least five steps that could be taken in order to make the country more prosperous.
